Mineral

Benefits

DeeRX Herd Helper Includes:

Major Minerals

Calcium

Calcium is one of the most important minerals involved in bone, muscle, and antler growth.

Phosphorus

Phosphorus is involved in processing the energy a deer eats.

Salt (Including Redmond Salt!)

The salt in our mineral mix comes from Redmond Agriculture!

Redmond salt is unrefined, unlike most agriculture salts. Refined salts do not include the majority all the minerals naturally found in the salt. Redmond salt is gathered from ancient sea salt deposits and contains 7% trace minerals. also includes a small amount of trace minerals deer need. DeeRX Herd Helper includes enough salt to attract your herd with its aroma they can’t resist. But we keep salt levels low enough that your herd is getting the minerals they need. Beware of other mineral products with high levels of salt. Salt can be cheap filler that dilutes the major minerals involved in creating a healthy herd.

Sodium is found in salt. Sodium is an electrolyte that helps maintain mineral balance and affects thirst.

Magnesium

Magnesium is involved in your herd’s immune health (the ability to fight off bacteria, viruses, etc.), and how energy in metabolized. It also plays a part in bone growth.

Trace Minerals (Including Zinpro Performance Minerals!)

Manganese

Manganese is involved in body and bone growth, immune health (the ability to fight off bacteria, viruses, etc.), and reproduction. When a deer does not have enough manganese in its diet, it could suffer from abnormal bones and joint development, impaired ability to make or repair joint cartilage, reproduction challenges, and abnormalities in skin, hair and hooves.

The manganese in our mineral mix comes from Zinpro Performance Minerals® (known for being the most dependable and consistent trace mineral products available!).

Zinc

Zinc is involved in protein synthesis, vitamin A utilization, epithelial tissue (the outer layers of skin, organs, and blood vessels) integrity, immune health (the ability to fight off bacteria, viruses, etc.), and reproduction. When a deer does not have enough zinc in its diet, it could suffer from abnormal skin and hooves, bone and joint problems, poor wound healing, and fertility problems.

The zinc in our mineral mix comes from Zinpro Performance Minerals® (known for being the most dependable and consistent trace mineral products available!).

Copper

Copper is involved in collagen creating and maintenance (the main protein in skin and connective tissue), enzyme function, the maturing of red blood cells, immune health (the ability to fight off bacteria, viruses, etc.), and reproduction.

When a deer does not have enough copper in its diet, it could suffer from bone and joint disease, tendon and ligament problems, poor coat color, and early embryonic losses.

The copper in our mineral mix comes from Zinpro Performance Minerals® (known for being the most dependable and consistent trace mineral products available!).

Cobalt

Cobalt is essential for the synthesis of vitamin B12 and is involved in the digestion of fiber. When a deer does not have enough cobalt in its diet, it could suffer from low Vitamin B12 levels and poor growth.

The cobalt in our mineral mix comes from Zinpro Performance Minerals® (known for being the most dependable and consistent trace mineral products available!).

Iodine

Iodine is involved in immune health (the ability to fight off bacteria, viruses, etc.). It also helps your herd’s antler and meat color. Some organs require some iodine to function properly.

Iron

Iron is needed for healthy red blood cells, which carry oxygen throughout a deer’s body. Iron is also found in many sources in the wild, so a mineral mix does not require a high amount to be sufficient.

Selenium

Selenium is involved in immune health (the ability to fight off bacteria, viruses, etc.) and reproduction. A portion on the selenium in DeeRX Herd Helper is organic selenium, which is better absorbed than traditional sources. When a deer does not have enough selenium in its diet, it could suffer from muscular cramping, a low tolerance for stress, poor immunity, and reproductive failure.

Amino Acids (Lysine & Methionine)

Amino acids are the ‘building blocks’ of protein, which make up all muscles and body organs. They are important for growth, proper organ function and development (including milk production in does). They are also important in muscle development, which is the meat when harvested.

Vitamins

Without added vitamins, your herd may not be getting all it can out of the minerals in DeeRX Herd Helper. In the spring, plants often offer higher levels of vitamins available. In the other seasons, the vitamins available through plant life is often much lower. Vitamins affect immune health (the ability to fight off bacteria, viruses, etc).

We Include Vitamin A, D, E, and B Vitamins!

Vitamin A is involved in skin and hair integrity and eye health.

Vitamin D helps your herd metabolize minerals properly, so they get the most out of them!

Vitamin E is involved in immune health (the ability to fight off bacteria, viruses, etc).

B Vitamins are involved in digestive function. There are twelve B Vitamins, all included in our mineral mix. We also added extra choline, which helps the liver function properly.

Yeast Culture

Yeast Culture improves the digestibility of our mineral mix so your herd gets the most out of it!

Granny Apple Flavor

Our mineral mix includes a Granny Apple flavor that deer find irresistible! Soon after putting out a new mineral site, our cameras have shown deer searching out this product with their noses.

DeeRX Herd Helper Does NOT Include (And Why!):

Sugar

Our mineral mix is sugar-free! Sugar is a huge attractant, but your herd is likely to over consume sugar. Sugar also attracts other animals, such as bears! This is why we also do not include molasses. When developing our mineral mix formula, we found that bears were very attracted to molasses!

Potassium

DeeRX Herd Helper includes a trace amount of potassium from its ingredients. Potassium is found in many food sources your herd already has access to on your land, so there is no need to add it to our mineral mix. By not adding any additional amounts, we can include higher levels of ingredients important to your herd’s health.

Sulfur

Our mineral mix includes a trace amount of sulfur from its ingredients. Sulfur is involved in amino acid balance. We don’t add any additional sulfur because it is found in many food sources your herd already has access to on your land. We can include higher levels of ingredients important to your herd’s health in our mineral mix because we do not add any additional sulfur.

Protein

Our mineral mix includes a trace amount of protein. Protein is easily found in in the wild from many sources, including twigs, grass, and other plants. By not adding any additional protein to our mineral mix, we can include more ingredients important to your herd’s health.

Fiber

We do not add fiber to DeeRX Herd Helper. Fiber is easily found in the wild from many sources. By not adding any extra fiber to our mineral mix, we can include more minerals important to your herd’s health.

Not all mineral mixes are the same! It is important to know what is in the mineral mix you are feeding to your herd of deer and how it will affect them.

Did you know: Deer size may be due to minerals (or lack of) rather than genetics! Many areas are lacking the minerals that deer need in the soil.

DeeRX Herd Helper has been field tested in Northern Central Pennsylvania on a 970 acre property. In just the first year of use, we saw amazing results:

  • Body size increased almost 10%

  • Over 60% decrease in broken antler sightings

  • Able to hold herd on property year round

  • 17 bucks harvested with an average antler size increase of 6 BC points

  • An overall healthier deer herd!

Do your homework when choosing a mineral mix. Compare guaranteed analyses and the impact each ingredient will have on your herd. DeeRX Herd Helper has been scientifically formulated with an experienced animal nutritionist.
